somatic cell nuclear transfer (scnt)

How is SCNT Performed?

The SCNT process involves several precise steps:
1. Isolation of a Somatic Cell: A somatic cell is extracted from the organism to be cloned.
2. Enucleation of the Egg Cell: The nucleus of an unfertilized egg cell is removed.
3. Nuclear Transfer: The nucleus from the somatic cell is inserted into the enucleated egg cell.
4. Activation: The egg cell containing the somatic cell nucleus is stimulated to begin dividing and developing into an embryo.
5. Embryo Development: The embryo is cultured to the blastocyst stage before being implanted into a surrogate mother.
